The ripple effect of the development along the harbor on old industrial sites blocks away from the waterfront continues to make itself felt, this time in South Boston. Three blocks from the Seaport in the midst of an industrial neighborhood, a project that will bring more loft style condos to the harbor area is being proposed for a group of empty factories which once housed a grainery.
Trinity Green Development, LLC, plans to renovate an existing structure and construct four new buildings on a 1.1 acre site on East First Street and East Second Street in South Boston. The project will include two three story six unit residential condominium buildings with 21 below grade parking spaces on M Street, a four story 24 unit residential building on East First Street with 35 grade parking spaces and a two unit residential condominium building on East Second Street. An existing building on East First Street is to be demolished and the foundation reused for a four story structure, which will contain twenty eight one bedroom, loft style condo units. Construction is expected to be completed in 2006.
Set in the midst of an industrial zone three blocks from Reserve Channel, the project will be in a location that is bisected by the truck heavy Old Colony Avenue but near the residential development taking place along the Fort Point District and the Seaport. When completed the Grainery will have 66 units in all of new housing.
