Portside at Pier One and Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina
While other projects are already breaking ground on the piers in East Boston, the biggest is yet to get underway. When it does, Portside at Pier One, along with the Hodge Boiler Works and the Clippership Wharf will result in the development of all of the now dormant East Boston waterfront piers directly across from Boston.
The Portside Project promises to complete the rejuvenation of the biggest section of long dormant East Boston waterfront into a complete community along the water.
Portside at Pier One will not only have upscale residential units, but affordable housing and next to it an actual working marina.
There will be a 600 residential units, making it the largest development on the piers in East Boston. When the revitalization of the shipyard next to it is completed, there will be 200 slips for a first class recreational marina on Pier 5. The marina will also have a service building and a small restaurant. The project will renovate some 26 acres of land around the piers extending into Boston Harbor on either side of Piers Park. which separates the Pier 5 ship yard from Pier 1. Roseland Property Co. and Sea Chain Marine, LLC will build the marina. The entire project will include the residential housing, a full service restaurant, a health club, a day care center and retail space. There will be a dock, with an all weather shelter to provide water transportation for the general public to Boston and to both restaurants and a public landing for boaters. The project will build some 2000 new feet of HarborWalk. with pavilions and seating.
Of the 26 acres of waterfront property, 7 acres altogether will be open space.
Some 95 millions dollars will be invested in developing the entire complex and marina along both piers.
